Mike And Pei: 2007.04.27 [Wedding] [permalink]

I’ve never shot a wedding on a boat before, so this wedding with Mike and Pei was my first one. I have to say, it’s pretty much like a big bar lounge on water - really laid back and enjoyable. I actually met Mike for the first time when I got on the yacht, and I saw Pei for the first time as she was making her way down the aisle. It was a fun challenge, from an artist point of view, to react creatively and definitively to all the events on on the fly. The yacht “Destiny” was commissioned through Electra Cruises in Newport Beach.

Tagging Along (Again) [permalink]

Last weekend, I tagged along with my friend Dexter Lo down in San Diego for this portrait session at Grape Day Park.

Second Shooting [permalink]

Sometimes I get the opportunity to shoot with some really cool photographers on their weddings. On this occasion, Michael Palma was shooting a wedding out at Wayfarer’s Chapel in Palos Verdes, and invited me to come along. I’ve always wanted to check out Wayfarer’s so it was a great opportunity for me.

Derek Webb (Artists) [permalink]

Ah, since I posted about Sandra, I thought I might as well share Derek Webb singing “Ten Thousand Angels” live also. And while I’m at it, I’m going to plug their first EP together, Ampersand.

This gets me thinking too, about art. I actually just watched Dave Chappelle’s Block Party on hulu.com last week, and even though it made me feel really white, I couldn’t help but appreciate the art. Chappelle’s genuine love of the music and the artists, combined with his own gift of bringing people together really made something beautiful and real. Anyway, I just went from folk music to hip/hop, which confuses even me, but I guess that’s just how the world looks from this side of my eyes.

Sandra McCracken (Artists) [permalink]

In a time of commercial and over-produced music, I love listening to people play and sing live. Sandra McCracken has this voice and writes words in a way that resonate with me for reasons I don’t really understand. Anyway, this is her playing her song “Shelter” with her husband, Derek Webb.
