Wedding [2007.09.01]: Thomas And Lourdes [permalink]

I’m playing some catch up on my weddings right now, but here are a few from Thomas and Lourdes’ wedding from the beginning of September. The ceremony was held at a quaint and beautiful church in Pasadena, and then the reception was at a small San Gabriel Mission vineyard/winery. A small note about several of these images is that there are moments where I felt like they were so into each other, so connected, where it doesn’t seem like they even know I’m there. Strangely enough, it’s in those moments where I feel that I am most “there”. Something to think about…

Portrait Session [2007.08.19]: Jeff & Sharon [permalink]

For those of you who check up on my blog regularly, a hearty apology for being really bad about blogging. Jeannie and I just recently moved and have not been able to get connected to the information super-highway for two weeks due to a variety of reasons ranging from weird DSL inteference in our area to just a REALLY lazy cable guy… One of the really cool things we have discovered about our new neighborhood is that we have an annual block party here. This coming Sunday is the 34th year that they have been doing it, and I am really stoked to get out and shoot, so look forward to seeing some pictures of Pasadena-lovin’ soon.

As promised (!), these are a few from an awesome day-after session I had with Jeff and Sharon. Because they were up in San Fransisco, we decided to do a make up “engagement” session for them the day after their wedding (which is an option I make for all my clients, by the way). To recap, their wedding was at Berkeley, so for this session, we went across the bay to the city to do some really city-scape photography.

Greening The Business [permalink]

Most people who have spent time with me know that I’m a bit of a tree-hugger. However, photography is not very earth-friendly. From the chemicals used to make the prints to the enormous amounts of electronic waste it generates (is your 1-year old camera not small/fast/megapixel enough?). Of course, I would love to see thing change, and for our industry to reduce it’s environmental footprint, and I am optimistic that things are moving that way. In the mean time, if there are ways to “green” my business, you can be confident that I’m looking into it! The next few months will be dedicated to making my business eco-friendly: from the papers I use for stationary, the inks use the print them, to our electricity at the home studio. I just found out yesterday that Pasadena offers completely renewable energy as an option to its residents. This has me very excited because I’ve wanted to be on green-energy for some time now. I’m a firm believer that every little bit of effort in this direction helps.

Wedding [2007.08.18]: Jeff And Sharon [permalink]

A couple of weeks ago, I flew up to Berkeley to shoot Jeff and Sharon’s wedding at a beautiful church in 90 degree weather. Everybody “roughed it”, making it a fantastic day to be with friends and family… and a nice escape from the 100 degree weather back here in LA. I was totally stoked about shooting this wedding because I’ve always wanted to shoot on the UC Berkeley campus. It certainly didn’t disappoint, as we got some great light and inspiration. These are some experimental versions of some more classic photography angles and themes from the wedding.

Up next: Jeff and Sharon’s day-after portrait session.
